Not much can be dug up about the abandoned Gasthof zum Schwarzen Adler (Black Eagle Inn). The abandoned hotel and restaurant must have been quite the popular hangout seeing as it was located directly next to the entrance of a (now defunct) Phosphate Factory – the abandoned Chemiewerk Rüdersdorf that employed over 500 people. By the looks of it, the Gasthof seems to have been abandoned even before the collapse of the German Democratic Republic.
The upper floors have completely rotted through, and anything that might have been worth something – bar a cast iron stove has been ripped out and stolen. The ruin of the Gasthof zum Adler will probably remain as it is for a few more years, a sad monument to better times. The ground has been poisoned by the chemical factory, and all the other buildings in the surrounding area have been given up as well. Its doubtful anyone will want to move or build something new here.
