When not sitting in front of a computer for work, im super passionate about history - specifically (but not exclusively) about the Second World War and post War period in Berlin and Brandenburg. I love exploring and photographing abandoned places, and I absolutely hate heights. Im a passionate train enthusiast, and use every chance I can to travel by rail. As a father of twins I have negative free time. Feel free to reach out to me via mail or bluesky.

  1. Schöner Beitrag.
Wie ich finde ist Ihre Seite auch
    im allgemeinen sehr gut gelungen.

  2. I *think* one scene in the 2011 film version of Le Carré’s novel “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy” was filmed there…

  3. Have you ever noticed that almost every outstanding building, monument in Budapest was planned, painted, sculpted ecetera, by Germans, jewish-rooted Germans, Austrians or every other thinkable nation?!?
I always get the internal giggles, when the Hungarians rave about their “artistic sense” and what a “great nation” they are.
I was in a museum with some Hungarians and they talked about their “greatest painter” Mihaly Munkacsy. How embarrassing, as they found out, that M.M. was originially born into a bavarian family.
I simply don´t like the hungarian hybris and megalomania.

  4. A bavarian is talking about megalomania…I must laugh. Munkácsy was born in Hungary, apart from the fact that his father was as you say from Bavaria, his life and his work was dedicated to the hungarian people and as thus enriching the hungarian culture. You can also consider him as yours, but this won’t change anything on the fact that we hungarian are proud of him. Tell me a single bavarian who knows him! You can”t. Perhaps you can see my point.
